We benefit from ‘Taking Notice’ or purposely paying attention to the here and now, things around us and how we feel. This can help us to reflect, be calm, and enjoy and appreciate things. It can benefit our wellbeing to Take Notice of what we can see, smell and hear…
In college, we have reflection rooms and LIVE lounge spaces where you can take some time to sit and Take Notice.
Action for Happiness has a monthly calendar with ideas to help you to Take Notice.
Mindfulness and Self Care
Mindfulness encourages people to notice their surroundings, mind or body without judgement. Mindfulness allows you to be aware of thoughts that come and go in your mind, notice what your body is telling you, and create space between you and your thoughts, benefitting reflection. As with most new skills, you may need to practise techniques in a comfortable environment.
You could try:
- mindful colouring
- mindful walking or running
- mindful meditation
- free online mindfulness course
- mindfulness books in College Libraries
You could also try some breathing exercises

Anna Freud has compiled useful self-care activities, such as meditation, mindfulness, baking, crafting, self- talk, distraction techniques and many more.. They also have a self-care plan that you can complete.

Looking after ourselves can sometimes be difficult. Student Luiza has shared:
