At The Bedford Sixth Form we want to make sure you have the best experience possible during your time here, so our award-winning student support services are in place to make sure that whatever concerns you may have, we’re here to help.

Careers Centre

Academic support

To help you get the most out of your course we have a variety of ways to provide you with the support you need:

  • Every student has a personal tutor, who you will meet with regularly to check your progress and make sure you are on the right track.

  • Our subject tutors are experts in their fields, with extensive industry experience and an insider knowledge of how to achieve great exam results.

  • The Additional Learning Support team are available to provide assistance if you have difficulties with any aspect of your learning. If you have a specific learning difficulty or disability, problems with English and Maths, are deaf or hearing impaired, or missing the essential skills needed to complete your course, we’ll make sure you get the assistance you need.

  • Our Learning Resources Centre is a fantastic facility that has everything you’ll need to advance your learning outside of the classroom, with a comprehensive library, quiet study spaces, group study area, top IT equipment, access to thousands of resources – including journals and e-books – and much more.

Careers guidance

The most important part of studying at The Bedford Sixth Form is ensuring you are well prepared to achieve your goals when you finish your course, so throughout your time here we’ll help you keep your eye on the future so you can turn you studying into a successful career. Our expert careers advisers will be available whenever you need them to help you plan your future and provide you with the impartial advice and guidance you need to help you make an informed decision about what your next step should be. Our team can help you with anything from the careers and university courses available to you to help with UCAS applications, writing a CV and preparing for interviews.

Financial advice

As well as our range of available grants and bursaries we also offer our students the very best advice and guidance on a range of financial issues. So whether you need advice about how to set a personal budget, save for university, plan your finances for the future or anything else, we’re here to help.

Wellbeing

At The Bedford Sixth Form we recognise how important your personal wellbeing and happiness for you to get the most out of your studies and work to the best of your ability. We want to make sure that we can do as much to support you outside of lessons as we can inside.

Our personal counsellors are available to help with any personal difficulties that may be distracting you from your studies. You’ll have access to quiet, private spaces where you can talk through your problems with a counsellor and work towards solving them.

We also make sure that The Bedford Sixth Form is a safe environment for everybody who studies here. We have safeguarding and anti-bullying policies in place to ensure that you’re able to study in a safe and secure atmosphere.
